Liebherr Mobile Harbor Cranes
Liebherr acquired a Mid-East order recently. Kuwait based Al Ghanim & Al Majid Logistics Group (AGAM) has taken delivery of nine Liebherr Mobile Harbor Cranes (6x LHM 400 & 3x LHM 500) for the Kuwait Port Authority. The tremendous growth of ports in the Middle East over the past few years in terms of global trade, and the associated demand of freight and handling capacity has increased the importance of an efficient infrastructure and an appropriate adaption onto the economic circumstances. The new cranes each have a lifting capacity of 104 tons and a maximum outreach of up to 51 m. When Handling Panamax container liners the LHM 500 for example has a capacity of 50 tons below spreader up to an outreach of 40 m, which are capable for full twin-lift operation up to the 13th row. Even when operating on post-panamax container liners the LHM 500 is able of handling 40-ft. containers up to the 17th row (51m). The cranes weigh up to 500 tons, which enhances stability, and can turn in any direction with its multi axle rubber tired undercarriage. The Liebherr mobile harbor cranes -- equipped with the Liebherr in-house developed and manufactured "Litronic" crane control system and Economy Software -- inaugurate a new era in Kuwait.
