Risvas New Senior VP or WMG
Austal Appoints COO
Spiro Risvas was neamed Senior Vice President, Washington Marine Group (WMG) Shipyards Division, responsible for all operations at the Group's three wholly owned shipyards: Vancouver Drydock, Vancouver Shipyards, and Victoria Shipyards. Spiro grew up in Greece, and attended the Merchant Marine Academy of Aspropyrgos where he obtained a Marine Engineering Diploma.
Shipway Elected ASA Chairman
Austal appointed the former Boral Limited Divisional General Manager Peter Hogan to the position of COO Australian Operations.
Garrido Joins Bisso
Senior Marine Engineer/Chief Engineer. Christopher has more than 26 years experience as both a sea-going Chief Engineer Officer, and as a New Construction/Conversion Superintendent on a wide variety of projects.
Crowley Promotes Gillen
The American Shipbuilding Association (ASA) said that John F. "Dugan" Shipway, President of Bath Iron Works, has been elected Chairman of the Board of ASA for 2009 and 2010. Mr. Matthew J. Mulherin, Sector Vice President and General Manager of Newport News Shipbuilding, has been elected as the Association's Vice Chairman.
Ralls, Lentz to Lead Rowan
Bisso Marine said that Mauricio Garrido joined the company on October 10, 2008 and is actively serving as Vice-President of Salvage and Emergency Response. Garrido is a graduate of SUNY Maritime College with a B.E. Naval Architecture, and has 24 years of worldwide salvage experience and abroad professional expertise.
Webb, Christopher Join RAL
Phil Reed has been promoted to general manager, salvage and engineering. Schwall joined Titan in 2000 managing the daily operations of Titan's global salvage and wreck removal business and overseeing contracting and equipment chartering. Reed will report to Schwall and will oversee Titan's salvage masters, naval architects and salvage assets.
Seigal Appointed VP at Zodiac
Crowley Maritime promoted Jim Gillen to vice president of engineering for the company's petroleum services, marine services and petroleum distribution groups. Gillen joined Crowley in 1981 as an engineer trainee aboard a Crowley vessel. He was promoted to chief engineer a year later and moved ashore as assistant port engineer in 1983. He holds a degree in marine engineering from Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

Zodiac of North America hired Commander (Ret.) Steve Seigel to lead its military and professional business unit. Seigel's Naval career includes both enlisted and commissioned service in multiple SEAL and Underwater Demolition Teams, and the US Special Operations Command. Following his operational and command tours, he reported to the USSOCOM acquisition and logistics directorate after completing the Defense Systems Management College.
