Eagleclass: New Mineral Oil Separator Generation USCG Approval for RWO's Oil/Water Separator RWO's Oil/Water SKIT-series Separators have received U.S. Coast Guard approval after tests were carried out successfully acc. to 46 CFR 162.050 and MEPC.107(49). All oil content measurement results being < 5 ppm so that the equipment meets and exceeds the requirements set in the regulations. "This is an important result in continuing the further expansion of our position as recognized and globally leading manufacturer of oily water separators for ships" says Helmut Werle, Managing Director of RWO Marine Water Technology. The Westfalia Separator eagleclass is a new generation of mineral oil separators that GEA Westfalia Separator Systems presented at SMM 2008, machines customized to the needs of the marine, oil field, energy and industry sectors. GEA Westfalia Separator Systems has expanded the capacity spectrum both upwards and downwards, and has designed the separators to be more compact, lighter, more energy-efficient and with fewer wear parts. Central to the appeal of the new class is its weight and size signature. "There is restricted space where we install our products, and reducing space and weight were top factors in this design," said a company executive at the unveiling at SMM. The unit is flexible, too, in that the shipyard is free to decide how to install the unit. Instead of the previous four OSD basic types, the Westfalia Separator eagleclass now features six basic types from the OSE 5 to the OSE 120. Smaller drive motors minimize energy consumption and operating costs by 10 to 20 percent. With Westfalia Separator unitrolplus, GEA Westfalia Separator Systems has integrated the follow-up generation of the previous Westfalia Separator unitrol system. It is used, for example, for even more exact dosing of displacement water for the last oil displacement prior to desludging which in turn minimizes the oil losses. With the expansion of the series upwards, the Westfalia Separator eagleclass is advancing into completely new capacity categories. Whereas the previous limit was 35 cu. m./hr. with the OSD 60, the Westfalia Separator eagleclass has made a quantum leap with the new OSE 120. Thanks to a high g-force, this most powerful mineral oil separator to date achieves a throughput capacity up to 80 cu. m./hr. www.westfalia-separator.com Safety you expect, quality you deserve Jastram's State of the Art Digital steering controls are engineered for the worlds most advanced vessels.
