The MMarE program offers a unique opportunity for practicing marine engineering professionals to advance their technical education and careers while continuing in their current capacities. The MMarE courses focus on the application of advanced technical concepts and skills. Real-world problems are addressed, as well as the challenges facing designers, builders and operators of vessels and marine structures, and those involved in the design and manufacture of shipboard components. Applications for the MMarE's 2008-09 program are now being accepted on a rolling admissions basis for the academic year that begins September 2008. motions can result from novel hull shape design, including significant bow flare and stern overhang. The book contains a concise overview of fluid dynamics and reviews physics and mathematical models of roll motion. Large roll motions and capsizing in following and quartering seas are given detailed consideration. It also describes fundamentals of current weather criterion, action of sudden wind gust, as well as the influence of drift. Stability and Safety of Ships: Risk of Capsizing can be ordered online at www.sname.org or by calling 1+(800) 798-2188 (in the U.S. & Canada) or 1+(201) 499-5068. $85 ($60 for SNAME members), plus shipping.
