Maritime Reporter & Engineering News recently spoke with Hans Reppling, President, and Sven Lansberg, Director of Operations, of the Consilium Marine Group to garner their insights on today's global marine market. -- by Greg Trauthwein How did you both become involved in the maritime industry? Reppling After many years an army (tank) engineer, I made a short leap over to a civilian trading company, with military equipment in the catalogue. Lansberg I was born in Gothenburg, Sweden, which was once the shipbuilding capital of the world. This was an easy choice for a working class lad in the late 1960's. What best describes your management philosophy? Reppling You have to make sure that all management and staff know what we are doing, and are conscientiously sharing ideas for improving the operations. We have 'High ceilings', meaning that we let everyone speak their mind; all ideas are welcome and subject for discussion. Give and expect responsibility, and responsibility will be taken.
