Welch New CEO of Drydocks World
Denis Welch has been appointed CEO of Drydocks World South East Asia and will be based in their Singapore Office. Following the recent acquisition of two significant ship repair, shipbuilding and rig building companies, based in Singapore and Batam, Welch will oversee the expansion of Drydocks World operations in the region. The South East Asian group now encompasses the exPan United Maritime ship repair and ship building facilities in Singapore and Indonesia, and also the Ex-Labroy ship building and rig building yards in Batam. Work is also underway on Batam Maritime Center, a large repair and ship building facility, which will be established on a 175 hectare plot on the island of Batam. Discussions are also currently ongoing in respect of a JV to operate a yard in China. Welch currently heads-up Intelligent Engineering's ship repair business 'SPS Overlay' which under his leadership has become an international operation and an established alternative to conventional steel reinstatement methods.
NSA Elects Grieg President
The Annual General Meeting of the Norwegian Shipowners' Association (NSA) has elected Elisabeth Grieg, the Chief Executive of Grieg International AS, as the Association's new President. Grieg was proposed unanimously by the election committee and succeeds Trygve Seglem of Knutsen OAS Shipping, who has been President for the last two years. Elisabeth Grieg is the first female president of the NSA. "I am humbled, excited and motivated to take on the position as President of the Norwegian Shipowners' Association. Together with the other members of the Board and the Association's staff, I want to promote value creation and employment in the shipping industry, and focus on environmental targets and corporate social responsibility which are the prevailing hallmarks of shipowners throughout Norway. As the industry's figurehead, I will be seeking to help make Norway's voice better heard in international forums, in terms of higher environmental standards, seafarers' work and pay conditions and competence development. Thor J�rgen Guttormsen of Leif H�egh & Co in Oslo and Stig Rem�y of Olympic Shipping AS in Fosnav�g were elected as new vice-presidents, having been NSA Board members for six and four years, respectively.

Singapore MSC Office Changes Leadership
Military Sealift Command's Singapore-based Sealift Logistics Command Far East changed leadership as Navy Capt. Jim Romano relieved Navy Capt. Susan Dunlap.
