Tokyo Gas Orders World's Largest LNG Tanker

Tokyo Gas signed a contract with Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corp. for what is reportedly the world's largest LNG ship. The ship, the eighth LNG tanker of Toko LNG Tanker Co., will be equipped with four spherical tanks with a total capacity of 177,000 cu. m. Tokyo Gas will jointly own the new vessel with Nippon Yusen K.K. with a stake of 10%. Tokyo Gas will have exclusive rights to use the vessel for 20 years.

Altamira Pilots Train at MSI
Pilots from the port of Altamira, Mexico, attended special training at MarineSafety International's Newport Simulator Center from October 1 to 5, 2007. The training used a full mission bridge as an LNG carrier and a smaller simulator as a 55-ton ASD tug. The exercises were interactive, with the pilot on the LNG carrier giving orders directly to the tug master.

Aker, OSG Announce Agreement
Aker American Shipping ASA and Overseas Shipholding Group, Inc. (OSG) signed an agreement pursuant to which Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, a subsidiary of Aker American Shipping, will construct two additional Veteran Class MT-46 Jones Act Product Tankers and transfer them to another subsidiary, American Shipping Corporation, which will bareboat charter the vessels to subsidiaries of OSG for initial terms of 10 years.

Bureau Veritas launched its initial public offering on Eurolist by Euronext Paris (Compartment A). The shares will be distributed in the framework of an offer comprising of a public offering to retail investors in France and an international offering to institutional investors in France and in certain countries, including in the United States under Rule 144A. The Global Offer comprises 24,831,570 existing shares principally sold by the Wendel Group (24,000,000 shares) and by certain Bureau Veritas manager shareholders (831,570 shares).

Mad Rock Wins Statendam Order Rickmers Sets Up in Korea
Rickmers-Linie, the Hamburg-based specialist for breakbulk, heavylift and project cargo, is expanding its network of own subsidiaries in Asia and established a new subsidiary, Rickmers (Korea) Inc, in Seoul effective November 1, 2007. Rickmers and Korea Maritime, the line's agent since 2006, have amicably agreed to terminate their agency relationship and as from November 1, 2007, all business activities of Rickmers in Korea will be handled by the new subsidiary Rickmers (Korea) Inc. Mad Rock Marine Solutions announced an order with Holland America Line. Mad Rock will replace the M/V Statendam's older lifeboat hooks with its "failclosed" hook design in December 2007, just weeks after winning an order for M/V Prinsendam.

MarAd, OSG Sign Agreement
The Maritime Administration and Overseas Shipholding Group, Inc, signed an agreement that will provide training opportunities for American maritime academy cadets on board OSG's international vessels. The public-private partnership is the first formal agreement to make available on-board training billets in the international fleet for U.S. maritime academy cadets.
