Passengers, freight, they are all time critical, and they depend on you. That's why you depend on ZF Marine transmissions, controls, and propellers. Our high speed propulsion packages are specifically designed for fast ferry applications, minimizing noise and vibration for the superior comfort of passengers and crew. Our compact yet robust design offers the reliability you need to make sure that eight o'clock means eight o'clock. ZF Marine LLC, 3131 SW 42nd St., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33312, 954-581-4040 Driveline and Chassis Technology December 2007 19 Photo provided by Austal comes with a 1500 mm diameter impeller and an inboard layout for steering and reversing hydraulics. A substantial weight saving has been achieved through the use of Centa carbon-fibre shafts. Some 70 percent of weight has been saved compared to that in the use of conventional steel shafts. Securing reliable and economical power generation on board are four MAN D2876 LE301/HCM 534C 360kW alternators. Sea trials for Natchan Rera were completed in an impressive three days with all systems performing perfectly and meeting best expectations. During the course of trials while running at 100 percent MCR (maximum continuous rating) speeds of up to 45.4 knots were averaged with 250 tons deadweight on board. Loaded with 600 tons deadweight an average speed of 41.9 knots was achieved at 100 percent MCR, almost three knots above contract requirement.
